All Faculty who have taken part in past CITE PD and research opportunities are welcome to join a CITE Affinity group this summer to keep learning and collaborating with colleagues!
Please read the description below carefully. To sign up for an affinity group, please complete the form below by May 15, 2026.
Affinity Groups for 2026
In past summers, the groups have served primarily as a site for collective learning, cross-campus sense-making, and receiving feedback. This year, the groups are being remodeled to center both learning and strategic planning. In addition to discussing the field, sharing artifacts, and learning from one another’s implementations, groups will create space for faculty to work on concrete program-facing priorities, such as:
- Clarifying or refining CITE learning goals
- Identifying shared themes across courses
- Mapping learning goals across a scope and sequence
- Strengthening connections between artifacts, assignments, and larger program aims
- Surfacing next steps for implementation, collaboration, and dissemination
Time Commitment
All meetings are Synchronous online
- Orientation / First meeting: Weds 6/10/2026 4:00-5:30p
- Attend as many group meetings as you can: Each group/facilitator will provide a set of meeting dates (set between Mondays and Thursdays) between June and July. Length of each meeting and schedule will differ from group to group, though timing will generally add up to 5-7 hours. (see below)
- Research + Affinity Group Fair: Tues 8/4/2026 10a-12p
- Attend and/or share out about your research grant’s progress or the progress being made within your affinity group!

English & Social Studies
About: In this affinity group, we will explore the what, why, and how of leveraging computational thinking and digital literacies in English and Social Studies teacher preparation. Together, we will examine how future teachers can support K-12 learners in reading, writing, analyzing, creating, and critiquing digital texts, tools, platforms, data, histories, and media. Building from the group’s earlier focus on exploring the Digital Humanities within CITE, this affinity group will continue to center collaboration and critical engagement with technology while expanding to include broader digital practices relevant to English, literacy, history, civics, social studies, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and more. There will be opportunities built in for colleagues to work on, give and get feedback on CITE learning goals, scopes and sequences, teacher education assignments, and activities in progress.

Assistive Tech & Special Education
About: Join a vibrant community dedicated to advancing equity through inclusive technology. This group serves two primary paths: individual faculty looking to integrate assistive technologies and AI into their courses for enhanced accessibility, and special education teams focused on strategic planning and operationalizing CITE program goals. First, we will develop a unified understanding of assistive technologies (AT) and accessible practices for CITE. Participants will then move beyond theory into hands-on implementation, developing accessible and equitable learning experiences through a process of testing and iteration. By engaging in cross-college collaboration, you will have the opportunity to share resources, exchange feedback with colleagues across CUNY, and create innovative prototypes that ensure all students can thrive in digital and computational spaces.
